16th Entry – False Bay Yacht Club

False Bay Yacht Club has officially entered the 2026 Lipton Challenge returning with a new highly experienced campaign led by Olympian Asenathi Jim.

Asenathi aka “squirrel” brings a wealth of international and Lipton Challenge experience to the team, having represented South Africa in the 470 class at both the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. A two-time Lipton Challenge winner, he was co-skipper of Royal Cape Yacht Club’s victorious 2018 campaign, and aims to making his mark once again on the Cup.

Joining him as helm is Henry Daniels, whose sailing career began in the Optimist and 29er classes, representing South Africa at international level. Daniels finished runner-up at the 2014 J/22 World Championship and will undoubtably bring a wealth of J22 knowledge to their campaign.

With Olympic pedigree, world-class competition experience and proven Lipton Challenge success, False Bay Yacht Club returns with a new team capable of making a serious impact when racing gets underway on Table Bay.
