MAC – Milnerton Aquatic Club returns to the Challenge!
This year, MAC will be represented by an all-female powerhouse team, skippered by none other than Dominique Provoyeur, with Robyn Patrick and Karen Field (née MacKellar) alongside her and one other. They are fresh off a strong performance at last year’s J22 Nationals where they secured 4th place, this team is back with focus and fire to shake up the fleet.
Olympian, Dominique represented South Africa in the Yngling class at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, showcasing her skills on the world’s biggest sporting stage. Since then, she’s remained a force in local and international regattas, and looks forward to being back competing in Lipton.
Robyn is a passionate advocate for women in sailing, with a strong commitment to increasing female representation in the sport. In the 2016 Lipton Cup, she was part of an all-female campaign that competed consistently through to 2018, setting a powerful example. Most recently, Robyn secured 3rd place at the 2024 Lipton Cup Challenge, under her slogan #sailing4thefuture
Karen Field, a competitor in the 1994 Laser Radial Youth Worlds in Greece, having raced L26s, L34s & J27s, including MSC Week ’01 with Pete Shaw, and Farr 72 sailing from Cape Town to Spain, after years as a dedicated paddler (Dusi, Berg, Fish, Pete Marlin), she’s making a strong comeback to sailing.
