Expressions of Interest – 2025 Lipton Cup Challenge

Challengers so far – UCT Yacht Club, HMYC – Henley Midmar Yacht Club, RCYC Academy, Royal Natal Yacht Club, Milnerton Aquatic Club, Boskop Yacht Club, and the most recent entry Gqeberha Yacht Club.
While eight Yacht Clubs have already entered the 2025 Lipton Challenge, we’re excited to share that many more clubs have expressed strong interest and are actively putting their challenges together.
Clubs like Walvis Bay Yacht Club, Saldanha Bay Yacht Club, Knysna Yacht Club, Isivunguvungu, George Lakes Yacht Club, Aeolians, Deneysville Aquatic Club, and Point Yacht Club — along with others across the country — are reportedly gearing up to join the Challenge. From first-time challengers to returning competitors, the momentum is building steadily.
Holding a trial year in the J22 has opened this historic inter-club contest to many more clubs around Southern Africa, creating a more inclusive platform, and the enthusiasm from the clubs in the north justifies this decision.
We’re on track to see at least 15 boats on the water, with a fleet of 20 not out of the question, making this one of the most exciting and diverse Lipton Cup fleets for many years.
Entries are rolling in — and we look forward to welcoming more teams to what’s shaping up to be an epic battle for the Cup. If your club is up for the challenge, make sure you’re on that starting line on Tuesday, 26 August.
As per the Notice of Race, entries are to be received no later than 17h00 on Saturday, 26 July 2025. In terms of the Lipton Deed of Gift, entries after that date are not allowed.
